Natalie Fights Back
5 10 2008
Another guest post … this time from my younger daughter, Natalie.
Hello, my name is Natalie. I am Irene’s younger daughter. I am 8 years old and I’m fabulous! I don’t really know what’s a blog and I can’t type fast, so I’m talking while my mommy is typing for me.
I don’t like what my sister said about me on my mommy’s blog (what’s a blog?). Yes I talk a lot and sing a lot coz it’s so boring when everything is so quiet. My sister always tells me to shut up, that’s mean! She complains a lot, so she should be the one to shut up. I have to take everything for her coz she won’t get off her butt! She calls me a nerd too. Hmph!
My mommy calls me a humming bird, coz I hum to myself everywhere I go, and I hop around a lot, like a bird. She also calls me a squeezy ball and she squeezes me a lot, but I’m not squeezy! Maybe just a little chubby. I don’t like being the baby of the family - I’m not a baby you know! I LOVE dark chocolate and anything with cheese. The only milk I drink is Meiji milk. I can eat Koko Krunch cereal with Meiji milk all day.
Last night mommy took us out for seafood dinner with her friends and Shaman Wai. Shaman Wai is a very kind person, like Grandmother Willow in “Pocahontas”. She even sang a Dutch birthday song for my sister, who is turning 12 today! So nice.
My school exams are over, yay! My sister is still not done with hers yet, hehehe. OK, I’m bored. I’m going to talk to my sister now. Byeee!
Natalie

Hi Natalie: I love seafood, you’re so lucky you got to have some last night. And I’m glad your exams are over. I always enjoyed school, but I would get a bit stressed during exam time. It was great to meet you and your sister, and please say happy belated birthday to Beverly for me.
Hi cute squeezy!
I’m sitting here wondering where your soul came from . . . and your sister’s . . .
Oh, you know how to get out of the “baby of the family” status? Maybe Irene can give you a younger sister! Then you get to know what it’s like to have a younger sister!!
Hey there, fabulous. A blog is a make-believe place on the Web for those who like to share their thoughts and feelings about things that matter to them. You know, I don’t think I’d like it very much if my older sister told me to shut up all the time (no, I don’t have an older sister). That must be so annoying. Especially when she calls you a nerd. But Natalie, you don’t look like a nerd to me - you look more like a cute and cuddly baby bear who likes to talk, sing, dance, and eat Koko Crunch with Meiji milk all day long. Please say hi to Beverly for me.
Christopher
Very cute once again Irene, I love your idea behind doing this. If I have kids one day I’ll try to do the same
Cheers,
Glen
Hi Natalie, I would love it if someone called me humingbird. They are such beautiful birds. I hum to myself all the time too. Most of the time I am not even aware that I am doing it until someone else tells me I am humming again. It is just a sign that you are happy or thoughtful or both. It is a wonderful expression of who you are inside.
I hope your sister had a great 12th birthday. I am the oldest sister in my family. My sister is 3 1/2 years younger than me. We weren’t friends when we were younger. Now we are. I love my sister even when sometimes I don’t like her. Most of the time, I do like her now.
@Natalie, you know…it’s strange…but auntie here almost called her younger daughter Natalie too…LOL! Oh my…wait a minute…your elder sister is called Beverly? Ok…I almost named my elder daughter Ashley! All the names rhyme!
So what are my girls called eventually? They do not have any English names; just Chinese names. They like fairies and mermaids and draw them all day. Oh yes…they argue a lot too, become best of friends, then argue again!
Is it okay if you and your sister call a truce to all the name calling? How about more hugs and kisses for each other?
@Beverly, Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great celebration with your sister and all
@Irene, Your younger daughter looks so much like you in features!!! Exams are over? So fast? What school did you say she is from again?
Hi Natalie,
It’s very nice to meet you.
Best,
Vered
I was thinking Natalie sounds more like Irene than Beverly does. So I find Evelyn’s comment is interesting. I only know you guys by a photo each, but she’s met you guys, so I guess she knows what she is talking about.
Hi everyone, thank you for your lovely comments! I’m going to reply on Natalie’s behalf … she’s read your comments, but she’s not sure how to type out her replies, so I’ll do it.
Marelisa - Natalie doesn’t really like seafood, but I do, LOL! Thanks for the birthday wishes for Bev, she says “thank you”.
Akemi - I’m going to keep their soul origins a mystery, but I think it’s pretty obvious that Nat is a Gabrielite.
Oh no … the child factory has ceased production a long time ago and I’m happy to keep it that way! Evelyn hasn’t met my girls yet, we’ve been planning to get together but it’s taking a little too long to manifest! Actually both girls are like me in their own ways … so you get to see different sides of me through their rantings.
Christopher - Nat smiled when she read your comment, but said “hey!” in protest at the part where you described her as a cuddly baby bear, LOL! Remember, “baby” is a sensitive word.
Glen - Thanks! I would love to read about your kids too when they finally arrive.
Patricia - You are right about the happy and thoughtful side of Nat. She really isn’t that conscious about her hummings.
Evelyn - I wish all this sibling rivalry will stop too, but I guess it’s part of growing up. Sometimes it’s fun to watch them bicker, hehe. I’ve been getting mixed feedback from people who’ve actually met me and my girls - some say Bev looks more like me, but now that Nat is growing up, she’s starting to look more like her sister, so it’s all starting to get confusing. I’ll tell you more about her school when we meet.
Vered - Nat says it’s nice to meet you too!
Hey there, baby bear, I know you’re a big girl now. I was just having a bit of fun with ya. Take care, squeezy ball.
Christopher
@Natalie - here’s a little secret. In the end it’s actually easier being the youngest, because your mom will be stricter with your sister when she tries new things. Then when you try them, your mom will be “like, whatever.” *smile*
@Irene - this is such a cool way to learn more about you and your family!
Urban Panther - We’ll have to see about that one, LOL! Yes it is a cool way for ME to learn more about my girls too. You have no idea how many times I had to look at both of them and say, “What? Really?”
Natalie — Nice to meet you on your mom’s blog! You sound like quite an energetic person. Shaman Wai sounds like a great person, too — maybe you can ask her how to deal with boredom and your sister?
Hi Natalie,
Nice to meet you!
Lori - I think Nat has already decided on the best way to deal with boredom and her sister (and anything else for that matter) … sing and talk!

Chris - Nat says “hello”.
Your daughter is cute =) And you look so young for a mother of 8. I’m surprise! =)
Robert
Robert - Awww, thank you!
I love squeezing my daughter too! I usually squeeze her until she lets out a cute little yelp.
Steve C | MyWifeQuitHerJob´s last blog post..Are You Pricing Your Products Too Low For Your Small Business?
Steve - LOL! I can imagine how cute that would be … I saw her cute little photo on your site, she sure looks squeezable!
Hi Natalie. I have a daughter who just turned 7. I bet you two would be great friends, she loves singing and humming all day long too.
What is Meiji Milk? I never heard of it.
Nice to meet you and your mom.
Jannie´s last blog post … How much more of a hint do I need?
Hi Jannie, nice to meet you and your daughter too! Natalie thinks it’s cool that you’re a songwriter and that your daughter has a blue tongue, LOL! Meiji is a Japanese brand that’s very popular here in Singapore.
