Epiphanies From Freaking Out
9 09 2008
It’s been almost a month since my last post. By the standards of some blogging communities, this lapse is a sin! So what’s been happening with Irene?? I’ve been busy. I’ve been ill. I’ve been freaking out. All good.
When I started this blog in May this year, I had a little chat with my spirit guides. I told them that I was nervous about blogging, but I also wanted to reach out and connect with like-minded people, so I asked for their help to bring me new friends via the blog. Boy, did my spiritual team deliver my request! So happily I decided to expand my request. I asked my team for more work opportunities - by that, I had meant more lightwork opportunities via my Soul Realignment™ readings. Shortly after, I got connected with a local holistic center and clients started to stream in. And then some more. I was pleased and very grateful. So again I decided to expand my request even further - this time, I told my team to “bring it on!”.
You’ve heard of the saying, “Be careful what you wish for”. Some of you may already know that I have a very busy but successful day job in the corporate world too. Well, if you didn’t know, then now you do. Just don’t ask me how that works out with doing lightwork, because I’m trying to figure that out myself too! Anyway … challenges started to surface at my day job. Suddenly, everything needed my attention - new projects, pipeline crisis, planning meetings, bridging gaps - you name it. All the projects I took on were top priorities on the management’s radar. Time and energy were expended very quickly but replenishing them took forever. At the same time, my Soul Realignment™ clients started to pour in in groups and families. I began to freak out.
Then I fell ill - and freaked out some more. Gosh I was so worried about slipping deadlines and getting fired by my boss … and I felt dreadful about keeping my wonderful clients waiting for their readings! And you guessed it - the more I freaked out, the worse I felt. It finally reached a point when I had to surrender my worries to the Universe and just sleep. There was nothing else I could have done to make things any better at that point.
After some rest, little epiphanies started to hit me, one by one. My left brain had been so busy freaking out and working herself to exhausion, so now my right brain finally gets her chance to speak! I realized that when I had asked for work opportunities, I didn’t make my request clear to my spiritual team. They had brought me opportunities in BOTH my day job and my lightwork - bless them! Even though it was difficult for me to see the challenges in my day job as “opportunities” then, I realized that if I had done a good job, that would have made me very visible - in a very positive way - to the management team. And I did say “bring it on!” to my team with a lot of certainty and gusto.
Becoming ill felt like a blessing in disguise. It taught me a lot about balancing success and well being, but most importantly it also taught me about letting go of outcomes. Interestingly, despite the panicky corporate situation at the office, no one was upset about slipped deadlines, and my boss and colleagues have been supportive and caring. The clients at the holistic center whom I had originally scheduled to meet all couldn’t make it for one reason or another, and had to postpone their appointments with me to a later date! Are these Divinely orchestrated or what?
All in all, it’s been an interesting month (in hindsight!) and I’m thankful for the opportunities and lessons. I believe there’s more coming up … but for now I’ll take the little advice that’s been playing in my head - in the form of a song by Jordin Sparks - “One Step At A Time”.
Blessings,
Irene

What a great example of Divine orchestration, Irene. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and reminding us all that we CAN ask the Universe for what we want AND trust that it will deliver for us. Th Universe can be trusted.
Irene, it sounds like you’ve had quite a rollercoaster ride!
With your life and with this post, you’ve clearly demonstrated the awesome power of thought and language to manifest desires, as well as just how important it is to say what you mean and mean what you say.
Be careful what you ask for, and be careful how you ask!
Love and light,
Christopher
You have such a cute team of spirit guides!
(Isn’t it amazing how literal they are?)
I used to think, until quite recently, getting into the FLOW was difficult or mysterious. Now (yeah, you read my post about this) I think: It’s easy! It was just me hesitating at the seashore. When I just ask, it comes! (Pretty scary, huh?)
“They had brought me opportunities in BOTH my day job and my lightwork - bless them!” LOL! Maybe you’re spirit guides are too efficient! I’m glad you’re feeling better and are back to posting.
Ariel, you’re welcome! We definitely can ask for what we want, and trust that the Universe will deliver in a way that’s ultimately beneficial for us - even when the occasional delivery schedules make us feel a little jumpy.

Chris, yeah that sure was a rollercoaster ride … and I think it’s not quite over yet. “Be careful what you ask for, and be careful how you ask!” - boy, did I learn! My team has a very unique (and efficient) way of making me see things. I’m thankful.
Akemi, yes my guides are very cute, gotta love them! I second your thoughts on the flow and how we always seem to be hesitating at the seashore. I have to admit … it’s still scary for me!
Marelisa, thank you, I’m glad to be back too. My guides are pretty efficient, in their own strange, unique ways. Maybe that’s because their charge (a.k.a. me) is kinda strange and unique too. Poor them … they have to keep coming up with really creative ways to wake me up!
Good to see you back, Irene! It sounds like it’s been quite a month for you, with lots of learning and growth opportunities!
OMG, total synchronicity. My post from today is almost identical! I hear ya, sister!! And welcome back. I missed you.
Blessings in disguise - isn’t it nice when we figure these out! Welcome back, and here’s to continued success in all your endeavors.
Mags, thank you! Yes it’s been quite a month for me. The learning part is always cool … the “surprises” do take a little getting used to.
Awww, I’m humbled that I was misssed … thank you dear.
Urban Panther - gosh, I just popped over to your blog, the similarity is astonishing! Oh yeah, I know you’ll understand.
Lance, it did take me quite a while to figure some things out, but I sure am glad it happened.
Thank you for your well-wish!
I was already wondering what happened to you. You seemed to have completely disappeared off the radar!
At least things have not been so bad from my end. I’ve been not sleeping enough due to stuff piling on me too. I ended getting sick 1-2 days out of every 7 to 10 days.
We gotta catch up again when you start to feel better! Give me a call or write to me, ok?
Take care,
Evelyn
Irene, what a great example of how spirit guides work and take what we say literally. That is definitely good to remember. Thanks. Glad you are feeling better and not so overwhelmed.
Evelyn, I fell off this radar coz I was beeping on another one! I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been resting well. Sleep is sooo important … in fact I’ve gotta go catch some now. Take care and we’ll talk soon.

Patricia, I find this experience with my guides interesting too. They have never taken me so literally before (I think), but I get the feeling that they really wanted me to learn something out of this. I am feeling better now, thanks!
I’m glad that your back…I too have gone through many challenges this past month or so. The funny things is that my blog was the one that gave me a sense of peace and escape…Looking forward to reading some of your new epiphanies.
What a great story — and I love happy endings! Glad you are back.
I’ve found illness and freak outs are great messengers, too. It pays to listen!
Chris, I’m glad you used your blog as an oulet … it’s a nice place to go to when I need a sense of peace and escape!

SpaceAgeSage - I always smile when I see your name, it’s just so cool! Yes, I’m learning that even freaking out teaches us something. Ah, the art of listening to the messengers … I’m working on it!
Hmm, I wouldn’t mind some spirit guides myself, although I’m not sure I’m a believer (please don’t take offence to that).
Good to see you back Irene!
Glen, no offence taken at all … just sharing my own experience.
Thanks!
Hi Irene,
I was wondering what happened to you.
I love that line, “Be careful what you wish for”. Too often we don’t give our wishes enough thought before “sending them out”. I’m happy to hear you’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Barbara, thanks! I’m still alive and hopefully kicking with more zest very soon.
Irene,
I am so glad to hear that you’re emerging from this crisis stronger.
I have to tell you, Patricia emailed me when this post went up, partly because we did a “reunion” call for the June Circle Workshop and I specifically wanted to know if others in our group had gone through health-related challenges over the course of the summer.
I can’t say that I know what the parallels may mean, but out of a group of 13 people EIGHT of us have confirmed some recent bout of health-related challenges in the past few months. Outside that group, there have been so many of my clients and friends and family riding this same ugly wave.
Like you, I was honestly so overwhelmed with not personally drowning in the experience that I can’t even begin to give it some context or write about it.
I’m impressed that you’ve already managed to share the wisdom of the experience with everyone. Thank you for voicing so much of what I have felt pressured to say and could not.
Slade
Slade - OMG, I missed that reunion call because I was ill! One thing I’ve noticed about this strange episode is the way I feel upon recovery … it’s like something in me has changed. I can’t articulate it well at this point because I feel it’s still doing its work, but it feels good nevertheless. I will let it sink in for a while. Thank you for this amazing piece of information, it’s put some things into perspective for me. I’m so glad I participated in your Summer Circle workshop!
Irene,
I am thrilled you participated, too. Please know that only a few people actually made it to the “reunion” and I wonder if they were all too under the weather.
Such a strange and relatively unpleasant synchronicity, but hopefully we are all processing toward the positive as you have. Again, thanks for putting it in words.
Love to you,
Slade
I’m glad you’re feeling better!
There’s no doubt stress can actually make you sick, and last month was very stressful for you. Perhaps in a good way, but stressful nonetheless.
Thanks Vered! Yes stress can do a lot of weird things to our bodies and mind. I’m glad it all turned out good, somehow.
